DR’s Green and Gold night is an amazing way for incoming freshmen from both Dighton and Rehoboth to see what DR has to offer. Green and Gold night at DR has been going on now for four years. This night is an opportunity for incoming freshmen to see what high school is really like. In the past, it’s helped other students get acclimated to the school and gain insight on the clubs, sports teams, and other activities the school has to offer. I conducted a survey of freshman students to see how helpful Green and Gold Night was for them as incoming freshmen now that they have been in school for almost two months.
The research that I collected from freshmen students exemplifies just how helpful Green and Gold night was for them. The research I collected proves that Green and Gold night was helpful for the freshmen, as they got an inside look to see what the high school life was going to be like. A few freshmen mentioned that it was a way for them to see all the different departments, whether that was core subjects, electives, or even the CTE program. The freshman also said it was a way for them to explore the school and find out the different clubs, activities, sports, and even classes they would be interested in taking at DR. At Green and Gold night, incoming freshmen have an amazing opportunity to meet some of the teachers and coaches here at DR, too. They can even speak with student athletes that are part of that sport. In addition, incoming students also will be able to hear coaches’ standpoints on the sport and what they do for games or competitions.
All in all, Green and Gold night is extremely helpful for incoming freshmen so they can see how much DR has to offer, whether that be through classes, sports, or clubs.
