This week at Dighton-Rehoboth, students and staff participated in Anti-Bullying Week. The DR student government organized a 5-day event where students and staff across the school dressed up and participated in activities to help go against the cause of bullying.
On Monday, students participated in “Mindfulness Monday”, where students did activities during lunch such as coloring sheets and listening to calming music. This event was held to help any students who might be having a stressful day or are feeling overwhelmed to have settle down, unwind, and take part in a calming activity.
On Tuesday, the theme was “Team Up Tuesday”; during this, students and staff came to school dressed in their favorite team jerseys. This was done to team up against bullying and to show everyone coming together to support anti-bullying.
On Wednesday during lunch, students participated in “Warm Hearted Wednesday.” During this event, students were handed a Google form with kindness tasks such as “Give a high-five,” “Help someone out,” etc, and there were even prizes for whoever did the most tasks. This was done to help try and spread positivity around the school and even give a reward to the students that completed the most kindness tasks.
Thursday’s event was “Blackout Thursday.” During this day students and staff in the school dressed in all black to help unite against bullying and try to help black out bullying in the school.
Friday, students participated in the kindness pledge during lunch, where they were able to sign their name on a poster signifying their support in anti-bullying week. Overall, the anti-bullying event week was a big success as the whole school came together in support of trying to end a big problem in the world today.
A huge thank you to Ms. Beckett and student government for organizing such a memorable event!
