Mr. Dustin Demers is the esteemed head principal of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School. This is now his second year as head principal at our school; however, he is no stranger to being a part of the admin team. Before starting his head principal role, he was our assistant principal before getting promoted to head principal! Although he is our principal, many people do not know too many fun facts about him. Some things that you may not know about Mr. Demers include that he grew up playing sports, such as tennis, baseball, soccer, and hockey. He also supports the main Boston sports teams, probably due to the fact that he is originally from Norton. These teams include the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics, the Boston Bruins, and the New England Patriots, and his favorite of the four are the Boston Bruins. Although he is pretty interested in sports, he also likes to travel and see the world; for instance, he has traveled to Quito, Ecuador, where he was able to see an active volcano. He also loves to travel to Bermuda with his wife for vacation, and he has also traveled to France. Mr. Demers is a family man; his family includes himself, his wife, who also works at a high school, and two children.
Getting into more personal details, Mr. Demers has spoken out, saying that he wouldn’t change anything about the people in our school; instead, he would like to improve the facilities and modernize them and continue to improve the technology at our school. With three main goals in mind, Mr. Demers is planning on being here long-term, one of those being that he would also love to grow both of the CTE pathways so every student can have a path to a great career. Building on the culture we already have is a key focus of a goal for him, and he wants our students to put kindness first. Mr. Demers quotes, “I want everyone who graduates from DRRHS to be a better person when they walk across the stage than when they came through the doors as a new student here. If we do these things, then we will have a regional high school that both towns can be extremely proud of.” Mr. Demers noted that there are not any flaws about DR and is glad to be putting in the hard work for students and families to have a place they can be proud of and grow in.An additional quote from Mr. Demers states that he doesn’t find any flaws in DR, stating, “There are not flaws at DRRHS; there are opportunities for growth.” We have much to be proud of, but we cannot stop trying to improve every day. If we work to make one aspect of DRRHS better for our students, families, and faculty/staff, then over time we will move our school from a good place to be to a great place to be. Our community being as strong as it is is a big deal for him, and it states we have a special place that he loves being proud of.”
