Mrs. Susan Rodrigues is one of the main secretaries in the DRRHS main office. She has been in the DR school system since 2005 as a substitute teacher until 2021, when she joined the front office as a secretary. She is from Rehoboth, Massachusetts, where she expresses her love for dogs and raises her blue merle Great Dane named Luna. Furthermore, she also loves movies with suspense and mystery, and she also enjoys travelling to Maine when she’s not working. While her personality is fun and caring with some adventure mixed in, it goes far beyond that for what she does for everyone at DRRHS. As an example, a day in the office for her includes making sure teachers have coverage for meetings, absences, or any other reasons. Additionally, she does a great job holding students to high expectations, as she stated, “Get to school on time and in your seat by 7:15, please”—Mrs. Rodrigues, leading to a very busy morning.
During the day she takes phone calls, answers questions, and always chats with visitors and students. Prior to working as a substitute teacher, she was working at a bank, and it was a totally different experience that really wasn’t for her, as it was much stricter and more stressful compared to her more relaxed environment at DRRHS. She thoroughly enjoys interacting with students and staff, as it gives her the sense of community that DR holds. We asked her what she would change about DRRHS, and she said, “Nothing! Just have more students enroll.” Lastly, we asked her if she likes her job or not; she said, “I love my job. The staff in the office are great, and we have a great working relationship together. Interacting with the students is always good, and I get satisfaction that I am helping them achieve their goal of getting a great high school education.”
