The Falcon Dap is the culmination of D.R. spirit and artistic ability. There is an iconic image of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers where they join hands in an arm-wrestling position. This was the inspiration for the second panel of Mr. Dineen and the falcon coming together. Here at D-R there is a strong sense of community; we all help each other in different ways. I wanted to exemplify that in the first panel. Mr. Dineen and Falco are seen discussing how they have been helping the school. Mr. Dineen explains how our mascot saved many students. What is amazing about the school is that seeing students and faculty help others is something we see every day. Whenever a falcon falls, there is another one to help them back up. Everyone at the school comes from different backgrounds and homes, yet we are all together in these hallways. The goal for this piece was to capture the essence of community. Secondly, I wanted to add some humor, hence the last panel. Having the reveal of Mr. Dineen also being the falcon mascot represents something beyond a joke. This was supposed to capture how we are all D-R falcons; it takes all of us to make this nest. There is no one particular individual that makes up the school; it takes everyone.
