The Falcons started to fall behind in the tempo and struggled to keep up with the intensity.
Once the 4th quarter started, the Patriots seemed in complete control. Tom Brady connected with Julian Edelman on many big plays. Julian Edelman made an almost impossible catch to keep the game-tying drive alive. Running back James White had multiple touchdowns in the game, and the defense was completely dominating. The game was tied 28-28 in overtime. The Patriots won the head toss and began to bull-rush downfield, making plays left and right with no mistakes. James White ran in for the game-winning touchdown, and the Patriots won Super Bowl LI in overtime 34-28. Tom Brady finished with a record-breaking stat sheet. He broke Kurt Warner’s previous passing yards record with 466 passing yards, going 43/62. Tom Brady later broke that record the following year in Super Bowl LII with 505 passing yards.
Once the game had ended, the media went ballistic. Fans were amazed at how this was possible; videos of people celebrating and reacting to the game-winning touchdown went viral.
