The Spring Pep Rally is a new edition this year, along with the Winter Pep Rally. The goal was to ensure that every student athlete received recognition for their participation in Dighton-Rehoboth sports. Along with honoring the spring sports, there were some enjoyable spirit activities that took place.
The festivities started on Thursday 5/14 with the athletes being honored in the gym. Every student was able to view the livestream from their advisory classrooms. One by one, each team came onto the gym floor, and Mr. McKinnon spoke a few words about each team’s season and highlights, along with recognizing the graduating seniors. Later on Thursday, during the lunches, there was teacher trivia. Each grade was able to have one student go and participate in guessing which teacher the baby photo belonged to. The Seniors got the most points, followed by the Freshmen, Sophomores, and then Juniors. After the school day had ended, each grade got one section of a hallway to decorate in a different theme. Seniors were “Hollywood” themed in the math hallway. Juniors were “Stranger Things” themed in the English Hallway. Sophomores were “Under the Sea” themed in the science hallway. The freshmen were “Mario”-themed in the history hallway. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped decorate!
On Friday, the hallway decorating was judged, and the points awarded were contributed to the running tally for each grade. Also, every teacher hid spirit cards in their room that students could find and turn in to the office for points. The cards were mock baseball trading cards with the administration staff on them.
In the end, the winners of the Spring Spirit activities were the seniors with 517 points. Following closely behind were the sophomores with 515 points. Then the Juniors with 373 and the Freshmen with 274. The Juniors won the hallway decorating contest with their theme of “Stranger Things.”
This was the first year that we were able to do a spring pep rally. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this happen!
