On October 25th, DR hosted their very first car show in order to raise money for kids enrolled in Automotive CTE. Around 281 cars were in attendance, old and new, from hot rods to Hellcats; decades of automotive development were presented. In addition to cars, food trucks and other activities were at the school for students and staff to participate in. State Representative Steven Howitt and Senator Kelly Dooner were also in attendance, showing support for Dighton and Rehoboth.
Initially, DR staff expected around 75 cars to show up, so they planned to use the senior parking lot. In reality, almost 4 times that amount showed up, completely shocking the staff. Mr. Strojny even said that there were cars all the way to Route 44. Because of the overwhelming number of cars showing up, the staff opened up as many parking lots as possible.
Mr. Strojny said that this has been the largest community gathering he has seen in his four years of working here, showing just how many people showed up. The attendees were also satisfied, with some saying that this was the best event that they have attended since COVID happened and that they can’t wait for next year’s car show.
