On Friday, June 20th, 2025, students and teachers in the Dighton-Rehoboth School District enjoyed their last few hours of the 2024-2025 school year and the first few hours of their upcoming summer. With hot weather, plane tickets, and filled gas tanks, DR was ready to take on the summer. The question is: What will they do, and where will it take them?
First, our very own Mrs. Enos, who is teaching multiple Calculus and Algebra classes this school year, was called “all aboard” onto a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. She was accompanied by around sixteen family members as she visited the islands of Saint Martin, Saint Thomas, and Coco Kay, experiencing beautiful views and a fun filled paradise. One highlight of her trip was her adventure to swim with sea turtles, where she traveled out into the ocean on a catamaran boat. While on her visit with the gorgeous sea animals, they were approached by a large but speedy fish, can you guess what it was? A barracuda! The fish began to attack the poor sea turtles, forcing Mrs. Enos and her accomplices out of the water, giving them an unforgettable and thrilling experience. Mrs. Enos’s trip won the “most unusual adventure”, however, she still had time to relax in the sun and the waves!
Next up, rising seniors, Rebecca and Christian Zankul traveled to Lebanon and Dubai to attend a family wedding! After arriving in Asia, the twins quickly learned the difference between American and Lebanese culture. Before the wedding began, the twins and the rest of the wedding congregated at the bride’s home, where they all listened to extravagant music to prepare for the wonderful festivities that would happen later in the day. Even though Rebecca and Christian enjoyed their time at the wedding, Rebecca stated that they “felt like outcasts do to our American culture”. However, the twins spent the rest of their time on the trip exploring caves, attending a safari, and visiting friends.

Some highlights of their trip were taking a boat tour to explore Jeita Grotto, holding a falcon (#WEAREDR), and meeting one of their fathers’ childhood friends in Dubai where they saw the tallest building in the world! Rebecca and Christian’s trip won the “farthest travel” as the twins traveled about 6,688 miles away from home and got to experience the trip of a lifetime.

The math department experienced yet another fun trip over the summer as Mrs. Poole flew out to California. However, unlike many other vacation trips that were taken this previous summer, Mrs. Poole’s trip had a mission; she was moving her daughter Penny into college. DR alumnus Penny Braga, moved into her college dorm at the University of Southern California with her family by her side! Mrs. Poole flew to California with her daughter where, after landing, they met up with a friend to unbox all the new dorm and college supplies Penny had ordered. Mrs. Poole’s other daughter and Penny’s little sister, Phoebe Braga, flew in later in the day accompanied by Lennox Britto, who are both active students at DR. The four enjoyed one last night together in the hotel while experiencing the city of Los Angeles. Move in day for Penny went very smoothly, and she got to meet other students studying similar majors as her. Mrs. Poole’s trip won “most meaningful” as she states, “It felt nice to see her off to do her next adventure as a family”.

With all the fun experiences the members of the Dighton-Rehoboth School District had this summer, they are all excited to make this school year just as interesting. As our students and teachers settle into the 2025-2026 school year, their memories from summer are still alive, helping to bring joy and energy into the classroom. Get ready for another great year at DR!
